If you are a smoker, you can have a spirometry for free in our surgery. This Lung Function Testing is a routine procedure for the assessment and monitoring of respiratory diseases. Spirometry test measures the amount of air you can inhale and exhale, and if your lungs are delivering enough oxygen to your blood. Spirometry is the most common lung function test.
This test is conducted by our nurse and can take up to 30 minutes. During this test, you'll be asked to blow into a large tube connected to a small machine called a spirometer.
If you use any type of asthma medication such as inhalers please bring them with you to the test. If you smoke please avoid smoking for at least four hours prior to the test.
